At a time where there seems to be so much unrest and uncertainty in the world around us, we all need a place to take refuge and escape. A place that brings calm and clarity.
This doesn’t have to be a physical place; it can be one that you imagine or visualize. It might even be triggered by looking at a piece of art, listening to meditation or music, or the place that exists in the book that you’re reading.
Whenever I want to escape to my ‘happy place,’I imagine sitting on a beautiful island. It’s just me, the sand and the waves. I look to the left and see the sun rise in the morning; and look to my right and see a magical sunset each night. I am drawn to the secret nuances of color on the horizon where the sky meets the sea, where the possibilities are endless.
This ‘happy place’ is what inspired me to create “ENDLESS” – a glass art mural that depicts the line where the sky meets the sea – and where we all long to go.
There’s something about the ever-changing yet harmonious love between the waters below and the heavens above, and this piece revels in that magical space.
Having that special place to escape to in these times is vital to help us build resilience and turn our thoughts from hardship and fear, to focus on beauty, peace and harmony.
