The Show
Everything we carry back, and choose to keep.
Christi Meril has spent years on the move. Northern California. The Rockies. Santa Fe. New York. Each place left something with her, and she brought it home to Dallas.
At first this show was about objects. The things we pack and keep and cannot put down. Then it grew into something larger. Memory. Dreams. The people who shape us. The quiet work of finding your way back to yourself.
The Long Journey Home is about that homecoming. Not the house you live in, but the self you keep returning to. It asks one simple question. What parts of yourself do you give yourself permission to bring home?
You will walk in and find the familiar sitting next to the unexpected. That is the point. We want you to leave curious about your own way home.
The Making
Made from the places she has been.
The materials in this show are not bought from a store. They are gathered, carried and kept. Every one of them holds a place, and every one of them found its way back here.
Charcoal from one fire
Every mark in this show is drawn with charcoal from a single extinguished campfire at Ghost Ranch, Santa Fe. The land where Georgia O'Keeffe painted. Christi collected it in 2023 and has carried it ever since.
Wood that remembers
Old-growth redwood from the Northern California coast, standing beside paper built up by hand. Windows opened into the grain to show the raw wood beneath. The natural becoming man-made, and back again.
What we carry
Plain paper bags, cut by hand, sewn back together, cast and hung like stone. Ordinary on the outside. Open one up and the beauty is on the inside. What we let people see, and what we hold.
The Journey
Four places. One way home.
The palette of this show is drawn straight from the ground Christi has walked. Adobe, water, redwood, concrete. Grounded and calm. Each place gave the work its colour, and Dallas is where it all came home.
SANTE FE Adobe warmth and desert light. The charcoal from Ghost Ranch that runs through every piece.
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA Coastal water and old-growth redwood. The blues and the deep greens that ground the work.
THE ROCKIES Height, distance and open air. The sense of scale that sits behind the larger pieces.
NEW YORK Pace and edge. A reminder of how far the road went before it turned back toward home.
DALLAS Concrete and homecoming. The point Christi keeps returning to, and the place this show was made.
Home was never only a place. It is the self you keep finding your
way back to.

The Artist
Christi Meril

Christi is a resident artist at ALG Fine Art in the Dallas Design District. Her work moves across canvas, wood and sculpture, built from materials she gathers on the road and carries home.
Charcoal from a Santa Fe campfire. Redwood from the California coast. Paper cut, sewn and cast by hand. Christi turns the ordinary into something you want to look at twice, and asks quiet questions about memory, home and what we choose to keep.
The Long Journey Home is her new solo show, and her most personal to date.
