5 Reasons to Visit “Poetic License,” the Visiting Artists Show

This is my favorite time of the year. No, I’m not talking about Fall, although I love Fall too. I’m talking about ALG Fine Art’s Visiting Artist Show. As the Gallery Director, I get to curate a show with a group of artists, showcasing their talent in the heart of the Dallas Design District. There are so many reasons to support this year’s show, “Poetic License – Art to Navigate a Beautiful, Messy World.”

Poetry collides with art

This year, we chose four poems to inspire our Visiting Artists and we’ve structured the show to reflect these four different acts. Poetry has an amazing power to illuminate the world around us and the nuances of the human experience. So does visual art. Together, they have created a collection of diverse, compelling, and evocative artwork.

Elevate artist voices

We used a blind curation process to select artwork from the show. That means that I only looked at the artwork and the artist statement to understand how it connected to our theme. As a result, we are featuring a real range of artists, established, emerging, local, and international. You can support them all by visiting and sharing about the show.

Expand your collection

As we are featuring a range of artists, we are featuring a range of artwork. There are many different mediums and styles, including sculpture, photography, oil on linen, glass, and impastoed wood panel, sizes and price points, so you can find something that’s right for your heart and your home. At the same time, you’ll be supporting an artist in their creative endeavor.

An enduring message of hope

With the theme “Poetic License – Art to Navigate a Beautiful, Messy World,” this art show explores the nuances of the human experience. The artwork is honest and vulnerable in a beautiful and brave way. You’ll walk away feeling seen, understanding yourself a bit better, and with hope for the next chapter of your story, whatever that may be. Art can be a wonderful tonic for the soul.

Get inspired

Seeing a diverse range of artwork and unique reflections on how we use our “Poetic License” to understand the world, ourselves, and each other could inspire your own creativity. Whether you’re an artist yourself, would like to bring out your creative side, or are looking for a safe space to pause, breathe, and reset, you’ll take something away from the show.

My piece, made in collaboration with Melanie Brannan, called “Bloom & Sigh,” opens the show. It’s a mix of my sculptural glass flowers and Melanie’s iconic Impressionist brushstrokes. See it alongside the artwork of 30 other artists at “Poetic License,” the Visiting Artists Show 2025. The show is available to view during ALG Fine Art’s usual opening hours of Wednesday to Saturday, 11am-4pm, until November 15th.
