The Joy of Co-Creation

Now, I’ve had time to step back and really appreciate what we have been able to achieve over the last couple of months at ALG Fine Art. At the heart of what we do and how we make an impact is co-creation. The gallery was founded on the principle that a rising tide lifts all boats and we continue to live it out every day. I find so much joy in it!

The two sides of “Bloom & Sigh”

Firstly, I want to highlight the co-creation process I undertook with Melanie Brannan as we made the artwork “Bloom & Sigh” together. We both have distinct styles. I’m known for my sculpted glass flowers. Melanie’s artwork is distinguished by her bold impressionist brushstrokes. Both of our art styles came together to form something beautiful that we wouldn’t have been able to create without each other. Thank you for collaborating with me Melanie!

The collaboration of the Visiting Artists Show

“Bloom & Sigh” was exhibited in “Poetic License,” this year’s Visiting Artists Show. Over 30 artists came together to create art for navigating the beautiful, messy world we live in. We were inspired by the same theme and the same four poems that made up the four acts of the show but the artwork was so diverse. Each followed a different path that further added to the conversation sparked from the show. One of those conversations was a collaboration between two Visiting Artists. Christopher Miller (“It’s My Life”) and Matt Kaplinsky (“Be Made an Instrument of Peace”). Watch the podcast here!

Creativity within creativity

I want to continue this coming together of creative minds and hearts. The artistic outcomes are incredible! One of the other ways I did that recently was hosting a pumpkin painting party at ALG Fine Art. I invited the Junior Group of the Dallas Garden Club to decorate pumpkins within the gallery. The art on the walls inspired our creation and conversation that day. I can’t wait to do more events where creativity layers upon creativity.

We have long said that “No man is an island.” There’s no one it applies to more than artists and creatives. When we’re together, sparks fly and wonderful things happen! Thank you to everyone who has co-created with me this year. I can’t wait to see what next year brings.
