Art to Inspire Your Summer Interior Refresh

As a visual storyteller, I love keeping an eye on interior design trends and how people are expressing their style through their spaces. There are so many choices we make that bring a room together. The art you choose to add to a room can make such a difference.

This decor decision can introduce color, patterns and texture in a way that elevates and finishes a space. With the warm months of summer already starting, here are a few art ideas that will uplift your home for this time of year.

Bring the outdoors inside

This is the time of year for long walks in the sunshine and laying on the beach. We can’t spend every moment out in nature but we can bring nature to our interiors. It’s like adding a beautiful view to a room. You can gaze at the natural landscape and feel a wave of calm and peace. “French Reflections I, II & III” depict the landscape of the French countryside with a kaleidoscope effect giving the art a mesmerizing dreamy quality.

Bold colors in neutral spaces

Neutral color palettes are popular in interior design for a reason. It gives the room a soft, subtle and cozy feel. It also creates the perfect backdrop for playing with pops of color. Decor choices that don’t take over a space, just add a little interest and fun. “Let It Thrive” would work great in a neutral space because the frame matches the soft tone, the mirror adds white space and light, and the glass art design brings the color.

Tactile texture

When we’re designing a space, we spend a lot of time thinking about colors but what about textures? Playing with different textures adds layers to a room. It’s a subtle way to add depth and dimension. Textures are something I play with in my art, particularly my glass art. “Horizons I” and “Horizons II” are glass murals. Each piece of glass is arranged to build a form the picture, contrasting larger smooth pieces with small shards in patterns. The reflection of light and shadow adds so much more to this art choice.

Decor collections

Some artworks are statement pieces. Others are complimentary to current design choices. Do you have a shelving unit where you have arranged a selection of decor? Do you have a trinket table with some of your most prized possessions? Adding a small piece of art can bring it all together. For maximalists, this is a favorite because they can layer and contrast a decor collection. “Dreamscape” is the kind of artwork that would look great in a decor collection.

Art can be used as a centerpoint when designing a room or an elevation after the fact to help you fall in love with your space again. If you are looking for more art to inspire your interior refresh this summer. Browse the rest of my art collection HERE.
