Let’s take a walk down memory lane over the course of your life and see how many times you can honestly say you’ve “transformed,” that is, gone through a period of significant or total change in form or character—a metamorphosis on an external or internal level. My best guess is that you can count them on just one hand.
Transformation doesn’t have to be dramatic or immediate to have a big impact.
It can happen in small incremental ways. It often entails simply opening our minds to something you’ve been unwilling to consider before; learning a new skill or sharpening an old one; seeking professional expertise; conquering self-doubt, fear of failure, or even fear of success.
My personal growth has mostly been gradual, small steps, little shifts, and minor changes that accumulated over time to produce significant effects. But then, when I look back, I’m amazed at the overall transformation.
At the start of the year, I decided to try a new form of art using archival ink on lucite. It was a big leap from creating glass art, but I wanted to experiment and put my thoughts and feelings into a medium that helped express my personal journey.
One of my most colorful compositions from my “FAITH” series is “Transforming,” which shows the process of changing completely, maybe slowly over time, maybe all at once, but the person who begins the journey looks different than the one who finishes it.
