In my role as Gallery Director at ALG Fine Art, I curate immersive, enriching art experiences for creators, collectors, and the community. Our annual Visiting Artist Show is an important part of our mission because it allows us to open our doors to more artists, voices, and stories, and explore themes in multi-faceted and compelling ways.
We are already preparing for our next Visiting Artist Show “Poetic License – Art to Navigate a Beautiful, Messy World,” showing in the Fall and taking submissions this Summer.
Why Showcase at a Visiting Artist Show
Sharing your artwork as part of a Visiting Artist Show is an amazing opportunity for artists for many reasons –

Get Inspired by Clumsy Beauty
The theme for our Visiting Artist Show this year is “Poetic License – Art to Navigate a Beautiful, Messy World.” We’re taking inspiration from four of the poems in J.K. Kennedy’s poetry collection Clumsy Beauty.
We’ve chosen this theme because when art and poetry collide amazing things happen. The profound and evocative poems in this collection serve as a depth of inspiration for visual storytelling. She explores finding grace in imperfection, strength in vulnerability, and beauty in the everyday messiness of life.
Ultimately, it’s about the complexities of the human experience and how we understand the world around us. The creative pursuit of the poet mirrors the creative pursuit of the artist!
These four poems are the four acts of the art show –
- “Creativity” – Explore the genesis of ideas, the act of making, and the joy of invention.
- “Experiments” – Embrace the journey of trial and error, the beauty of the process, and the unexpected outcomes.
- “The Destination” – Reflect on arrival, purpose, and the meaning we find at the journey’s end.
- “From the Thought Pile” – Draw attention to how we can find happiness in the little things.
I can’t wait to dive into curating a show of what I know will be incredible artwork that gives us the opportunity to explore, to question, to interpret, and to navigate this messy, beautiful world we live in.
This is an open call to artists. Expressions of interest open on June 9th. From then, you will also be able to pick up a free copy of Clumsy Beauty at ALG Fine Art. Official submissions open on July 9th and close on August 13th. Then the show will open in October.
