I am a romantic at heart. It’s no wonder I got so much inspiration from my trip to the City of Love, Paris. You can see this in my solo show from last year, “It Started in Paris.” Remind yourself or catch up on the French-inspired artwork HERE.
That being said, love can be found in any city. Dallas, my home base, has so much to offer for celebrating special occasions and spending quality time with your loved ones. Do more than just dinner this Valentine’s Day with these romantic ideas for spending the Day of Love in Dallas.
Take a walk on the wild side
One of my favorite places to take people in Dallas is the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. It’s a beautiful place to walk and immerse yourself in nature, while being in the middle of a city. Starting on February 13th, they have a new seasonal showcase, Enchantment of Orchids. What better way to appreciate the beauty of Mother Nature!
Get your cocktail dress on
If you feel like dressing up and going out, I love going to a speakeasy-style bar. It’s the perfect mix of glamour and adventure. While there are so many good cocktail bars to choose from in Dallas, I have to shout out Babou’s. This is a bar hidden below street level and named after Salvador Dalí’s beloved ocelot. A creative’s paradise!
Paint brushes at the ready
How about enjoying getting creative together? I love the videos of couples painting portraits of each other. The portraits might come out masterful or they might come out hilarious. Either way, it’s a lot of fun to spend an evening capturing the beauty of your loved one. You could even play around with different media. If you’re a night-in kind of person, I’d recommend picking up a steak dinner from Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse.
Art that’s right for your heart and your home
Whether you’re going out on Galentine’s Day or Valentine’s Day, ALG Fine Art will be open 11am-4pm in the Dallas Design District. There you can see my latest artwork as well as giftable favorites, including my glass sculptures in the form of hugs and flowers and the glass mural series “Harmony” and “Floating Bloom.” Let the artwork take you away into different worlds and stories. Choose pieces that speak to you as gifts for each other or to expand the art collection in your home together.
However you choose to spend your Valentine’s Day weekend, I hope you have an amazing time. We’d love to see you at ALG Fine Art on the day or ahead of the day to pick up a surprise gift. Take a look at the artwork I have available HERE.
