My Artistic Manifesto for 2025

Happy New Year y’all! I hope this finds you at the end of a blissful holiday season, feeling refreshed and ready to embrace all the exciting possibilities that 2025 holds.

At this oh-so-crazy time of year, I want you to take a moment to pause, reflect, and set a clear intention for the year to come…

Resolutions never seem to work for me. They put too much pressure on me before I’ve even started, and then I beat myself up for the inevitable failure! This year, I’m embracing a different approach, setting intentions rather than resolutions.

Open to new possibilities

I love the word ‘OPEN’ it’s such a hopeful word. As a creator in this ever-changing world, I know I need to be more open to possibilities.

Open to opportunities.

Open to new ideas.

Open to new ways of working.

Open-minded.

Open-hearted.

Small steps towards bigger goals

As the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh once said… “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.” In 2025, I will embrace and enjoy the process of my art more, being fully in the moment and celebrating the small victories along the way.

Pay attention to the world around me

Art and creativity are my most powerful stress outlets and battery rechargers, and this year I will be more intentional about putting time into these much-needed moments of art-respite, and at the same time, sharpening my observational skills to find beauty and inspiration in the ordinary.

Be bold with color

This year, I’m pushing the boundaries with color, infusing my art with bold, unapologetic color, creating work that is both striking and expressive.

Celebrate my wins

I know so many artists who forget to celebrate their wins, so I know I’m not alone. In 2025, I’m committing to celebrating all my achievements, no matter how small, and not be ashamed of what others might think.

Connect with other artists

Last year, my Visiting Art Show was a game-changer for the gallery and for inspiring me as an artist, so I want that to continue into 2025. I will never underestimate the importance of us all supporting and inspiring one another. That’s why I choose to share the space with other artists who are at the top of their game – and I’ll be opening the doors again to other artists this year – watch this space!

Be patient and kind to myself

I will approach my art with patience and self-compassion, recognizing that growth takes time and that setbacks are inevitable. At the end of the day, the journey is as much of the reward as the finished piece.

Consistency over Intensity

I recognize that if I want to grow as an artist, I need to be consistent with my creative efforts. This means showing up day after day, even when the initial spark feels absent. Doing this will build a steady accumulation of knowledge, experience, and ultimately, the ability to produce richer and more imaginative work that my audience will love.

Whatever intentions you set for yourself for the year ahead, my wish for you is that you discover a deep sense of joy in everything you do, a sprinkle of creativity and the courage to achieve things you never dreamed would be possible.
